Camino San Francisco 2026 will journey through the northern WA Wheatbelt around Northampton and the Murchison River over two full days.
-
In Northampton, Servant of God John Hawes designed and had built the Church of Beata Mariae in Ara Coeli (Blessed Mary of the Altar of Heaven)(Opened 1936) and the Sacred Heart Convent (opened 1919).

This Camino will traverse the landscape in the near vicinity of Northampton as well as around the historic mining area of the Geraldine Mine, Warranbano Chimney and the Murchison River.

The Camino, as always, will immerse participants not only in the built and spiritual heritage of John Hawes but also the natural heritage of the Midwest, particularly the amazing wildflowers.

Participants will travel to Northampton and back from St Francis Xavier Cathedral Geraldton on the Camino coach.

Camino participants will be accommodated in the refurbished Northampton Convent of the Sacred Heart designed by Servant of God John Hawes.

Registration Fee:
$425
Accommodation Costs Additional (per person)
- Individual room with queen bed: $50 per person per night = $100 total
- Bunk beds in dormitory: $20 per person per night = $40 total
- Camping in grounds or campervan/caravan: $10 per person per night = $20 total

The number of Camino participants is limited to 40 people

Proposed Itinerary (Subject to Change)
Day 1 Friday 24 July Geraldton to Northampton
- 4pm - Check in at St Francis Xavier Cathedral, 56 Cathedral Avenue, Geraldton. Pilgrims may wish to walk the Labyrinth accompanied with music by Jacinta
- 4.30pm - Move into Cathedral for the presentation of Passports
- 5:00pm - Board coach for drive to Northampton (50kms)
- 5:30pm – Arrive and check-in at accommodation at Old Convent, Hampton Rd.
- 6:00pm – Presentation of Shells & Stamping of Passports
- 6.30pm - Dinner
Day 2 Saturday 25 July Northampton
7:00am - Optional Mass at the Church of Beata Mariae in Ara Coeli -
7:30am - Breakfast at Convent

8:30am – Depart for day 1 walk

4:45pm - Arrive back at Northampton Convent

6.30pm – “The Camino Dinner” at Railway Hotel

8pm - Retire for evening

Day 3 Sunday 26th July Northampton

6:30 – Breakfast

8:00am – Optional Mass in the Church of Beata Mariae in Ara Coeli Church with local congregation (Jacinta and choir)

9:15am - depart for Day 2 walk

3.45pm - Board bus for Geraldton

5.00pm - Arrive at Cathedral – Presentation of Official Camino Certificates
