Pilgrims at the entrance to Mt Alvernia on Cat Island.

Archbishop Pinder was welcomed to Geraldton by the Mayor of Geraldton Ian Carpenter, Bishop Justin Bianchini, Fr Bob, John Taylor - Heritage Architect and Yvonne Krummenacher - a Cathedral parishioner.
In May 2018, a group of 17 Pilgrims, led by Bishop Emeritus Justin Bianchini, and Fr Robert Cross, Director of Heritage for the Diocese of Geraldton, travelled from Perth Western Australia to the United Kingdom and The Bahamas to make contact with the other custodians of Hawes heritage throughout the world, and to trace the life and works of the priest/architect who had left a huge legacy in the Mid-West of Western Australia.
As well as Bishop Justin and Fr Cross, the group consisted of:
Lyn Diepeveen
John Kagi
Jenna Brooker
Cecilia Norris
Pat Mills
Margo Scott
Barbara Tapscott
Tony & Judy Critch
Steve & Chris Marshall
Greg & Gerry Eastman
Trevor & Gail McLoughlin
One of the main catalysts for this trip was the visit of Archbishop Pinder of Nassau in The Bahamas to Geraldton Western Australia in 2017. This opened up the lines of communication which has resulted in a strong bond between the two Dioceses.
