A small crowd gathered in the Piazza of the Monsignor Hawes Heritage Centre in Geraldton on October 12th to enjoy some drinks and nibbles while listening to The Geraldton Bells being played from the Cathedral Organ by Jacinta Jakovcevic. the organist for St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth. Jacinta is very generous in sharing her talents with the Geraldton Diocese and Hawes Heritage Events.
The crowd then moved into the Cathedral and were treated to a wonderful hour’s entertainment with Jacinta playing a repertoire of popular classics interspersed with church music. The audience was treated to a rare experience of hearing an organist incorporate a carillon of bells into her performance. This is only possible in one or two places in the world and was very much enjoyed by all present.
