Those who braved the hot weather to attend the Free Concert in the Cathedral on Sunday 17th January were entertained by a dedicated and talented group of musicians from St Mary’s Cathedral in Perth.
The group was lead by Director of Music Jacinta Jakovcevic and Assistant Organist Alessio Loicono and consisted of Cantor Grace Feltoe, Organ Scholar Xavier Jarvis, and Rory O’Boyle and Elizabeth O’Callaghan from the Young Organists Programme.
Fr Robert Cross introduced the artists and thanked them for their generosity in travelling to Geraldton to share their talents and showcase the newly enhanced Cathedral Pipe Organ and the Carillon of Bells, which were also played from the organ. He reminded all those present that an Organ Scholarship is available to eligible Geraldton students wishing to become proficient in playing the Pipe Organ.
The Concert concluded with a Violin Recital by 89 year old Colin Brabazon who was visiting Geraldton and playing at all the Masses and also at Nazareth House Aged Care.
