The Centenary Horse Ride

The Midwest Horse Trekkers Club is organizing A Centenary Horse Ride from Pindar to Mullewa to coincide with the Centenary Celebrations.

This was a common route for John Hawes.  In John Taylor's book, Between Devotion and Design, is a letter that Hawes wrote to a Presentation Sister, Mother Brigid, in 1919, describing one of these journeys.  It illustrates his use of his horse, and his amazing tenacity and devotion to his parishioners, and also the tragic effects of Spanish Flu.

The Centenary Horse Ride will commence on Friday 13th in Pindar.  The group will ride to a property close to Mullewa where they will camp the night and ride into Our Lady of Mt Carmel on Saturday morning in time for the Mass and Celebrations.

If you would like to take   part in the ride,

Donations Welcome

When this milestone was celebrated 50 years ago
  • There were approximately 120 children attending OLMC School
  • Over 300 past and current parishioners attended the Golden Jubilee Ball
  • 600 people, men women and children, attended the Jubilee BBQ
  • Hundreds of parishioners gave food, money and time to make the event a huge success
As the number of parishioners these days is so small, the Parish would be very appreciative of any financial assistance past parishioners or community members may be able to give to assist with the costs of the Centenary Celebrations.
