Another successful  Camino San Francisco, conducted by Hawes Heritage Events, took place on the weekend of the 26th-28th July with 26 walkers and 8 Crew enjoying the wonderful sights and hospitality of the Midwest towns of Perenjori and Morawa, while visiting 3 unique Hawes buildings.
The group assembled in St Joseph’s Church Perenjori on Friday afternoon where Fr Savio distributed the Shells and Passports and the  Perenjori Shire President, Jude Sutherland, welcomed the group.
After Mass and breakfast at St Joseph’s on Saturday morning, the Pilgrims set out at 8 a.m. and reached the Bowgada Wheat Bin by mid afternoon, when they were bussed back to Perenjori.
Saturday’s walk began at the junction of Norton Rd and the Mullewa-Wubin Road  and finished 22.5 kms later at the Church of the Holy Cross in Morawa where Fr Savio celebrated Mass and distributed the Camino Certificates,  Shire Councillor Deb Collins welcomed the group to Morawa on behalf of the Morawa Shire,  and the Pilgrims delighted in seeing the tiny Priest’s Lodge beside the church.
Hawes Heritage Events is grateful to all who took part in the Camino in a spirit of friendliness and cooperation, to the volunteers who conducted the Camino with enthusiasm and efficiency,  and  to the  local parishes and communities for their generosity and hospitality.
